Hong Kong Disneyland Information

History of Disneyland Hong Kong
This theme park, located in Penny's Bay on Lantau Island, was opened to the public in 2005. Construction for the project only began in 2003, making it one of the fastest theme park constructions in history. Since 2005, additional attractions have been added to the park. Future expansion is planned over the next 15 years, but the construction of a Disneyland in Mainland China means that fewer visitors will visit the Hong Kong park annually. The daily capacity of the park is 34,000, and that number is frequently reached during holidays.

Layout of Disneyland Hong Kong
The Disneyland Hong Kong theme park is divided into seven different lands, or districts. Each of these areas are themed and boast specific attractions and decor. The main four areas are Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Main Street is designed to look like a typical American street, Adventureland has a jungle theme, Tomorrowland looks toward the future and Fantasyland boasts a number of classic Disney rides and characters. The newer segments of the theme park include Toy Story Land, based on the popular film series of the same name, Mystic Point, an area designed to look like a supernatural rain forest, and Grizzly Gulch, filled with old fashioned mining rides and stores.

Top Attractions and Rides in Disneyland Hong Kong
In Adventureland, the top attractions include Tarzan's Treehouse, a Jungle Cruise and a popular show called the Festival of the Lion King. In Fantasyland, the most popular attractions are the Cinderella Castle, the Sleeping Beauty Ride, the characters and the Fantasy Gardens. In Tomorrowland, visitors will want to enjoy rides like Autopia, the UFO Zone, Space Mountain and the Stitch Encounter, based on the film Lilo and Stitch. In Main Street U.S.A., the biggest attractions include the Animation Academy, the Flights of Fantasy Parade, the Muppet Mobile Lab and the greatest concentration of restaurants and shops within the theme park.

Transport in and Around Disneyland Hong Kong
Since the park is located on Lantau Island, guests on the main island of Hong Kong will need to take a ferry to Lantau or use the MTR public transport system. A special Disney theme train runs from the Tung Chung station on Lantau Island directly to the entrance of the Disneyland Hong Kong theme park. Each train ride lasts for five minutes and passengers will enjoy themed music and decor.
